Last year, The Data Lab launched our first Data Science MSc programme. As part of their course, students had the opportunity to apply for an industrial placement during the summer, to apply their learnings and get valuable work experience. With the 2015/16 MSc cohort of 40 students aproaching the end of their academic journey with The Data Lab MSc, we are now looking for an agency to help us organise the placements for our 2016/17 cohort.
Due to the success of our MSc program in 2015/16 we will be increasing sponsorship for up to 90 Masters students in 2016/17. Given the scale of the program we are inviting proposals from suppliers to run the industrial placement to facilitate placements for all of these students.
The goal will be to achieve a geographic spread around the country with:
- At least 50 in Glasgow, Stirling and the South West of Scotland
- 5 in the Highlands and islands region (supported by HIE)
- 5 start-ups (Possible exemptions on payment)
Placements must be focused in the field of data science, analytics, artificial intelligence and other related fields; and will receive at least minimum wage in Scotland. Placements should be designed for students completing the MSc degree programmes part of The Data Lab 2016/17 MSc programme.
The successful organisation will be the lead liaison with the placement providers until the placement begins. This includes providing suitable guidance about timelines, application processes, interviews and all other requirements. We would also like the successful organisation to review all placement vacancies for quality before submitting to The Data Lab.
If you are interested in participating of the tender, please submit a proposal to firstname.lastname@example.org 12:00 Monday 22nd August 2016. The proposal should include:
- Cost (inc. VAT)
- Brief outline of the methodology for how you will meet the objectives and timescales
- Brief profile of similar work that you have undertaken
- Names and summary of experience for those working on the project.
A decision will we made by Monday 29th August. We may request a phone interview to discuss the proposal in more detail.
