DataFest is back!
Thanks to the great success of the inaugural DataFest17, plans for DataFest18 are already well underway. Now in its second year, DataFest will showcase Scotland’s leading role in data on the international stage, while offering an unprecedented networking platform where you can interact with local and international talent, industry, academia and data enthusiasts.
DataFest18 will be held over five days, from the 19th to 23rd of March, 2018. This year’s festival will continue to explore how #DataChangesEverything, and this year the programme will have a special focus on collaboration.
Data can’t change things on its own, it needs a human element, the talent required to generate insights and drive innovation. This can only be accomplished by combining a variety of skills and expertise on different disciplines and sectors, and that is where collaboration plays a key role in achieving data driven innovation.
Over 2000 participants attended DataFest17 in March, ranging from school children to politicians, academics to key industry players. Speakers included Founder of Fast Forward Labs, Hilary Mason, and Marc Priestly, former McLaren F1 pit stop crew and expert in British racing technology.
Here is a short reminder of what DataFest17 was like. For more videos, have a look at our DataFest17 playlist.
DataFest18 will seek to build on 2017’s list of world class speakers, and further increase international participation and academic involvement.
The BBC’s Joy of Data presenter and UCL researcher, Dr Hannah Fry was one of the most popular DataFest17 presenters, and we are delighted to announce that she will be back as our first DataFest18 confirmed speaker.
The 2018 programme will include all of the events that proved popular in 2017, such as the two day Data Summit, and Data Talent Scotland, whilst also looking to increase the number of fringe events around the country.
