TechFest has over 35 years’ experience of promoting high quality STEM subjects and we were delighted to take part in their first digital festival this year. The work that TechFest delivers is key to making STEM accessible to young people and the wider community in Scotland, so we were also thrilled to join the roster as a sponsor.
As Scotland’s Innovation Centre for Data and AI we are well placed to understand how both Government and the business community have utilised data to power through the effects of the pandemic; and ultimately, the myriad benefits of building data strategy into your wider business plan. Presenting at TechFest was a fantastic opportunity to reach people who would benefit most from Scotland’s wealth of data talent.

Data driven decisions for a pandemic
What can COVID-19 and the UK response teach us about data-driven strategy? Making decisions in a crisis or in a time of change is a tough ask for any leader, and never more so than when the science is still evolving. In this talk, we look at the power of a data strategy in uncertain times, and what we can learn from COVID-19 to allow us to use data to our advantage.
How an MSc student can help you drive a short-term data project
Our Business Development Executive Cameron Gordon discusses common misconceptions about taking on an MSc student to complete short term data projects. We also hear from this year’s cohort of businesses about their positive experiences of hiring an MSc student.
Watch this video to find out how the programme could help you, and how to take part.
Our MSc industrial placement programme is open for Scottish organisations looking to inject state of the art data science technologies, creativity and enthusiasm into their organisations. We have 160 students in a range of MSc courses in AI, data science and data engineering, who are keen to put their technical skills to work in the real world.
If you would be interested in discussing the opportunity of hosting students on a summer placement in 2021, or in sponsorship of the programme, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, we would be delighted to discuss this with you.
