Help us tackle Childhood Obesity in Scotland!

The Data Lab would like to bring together leading academics for a workshop focused on Childhood Obesity on Thursday, 21 June 2018 in Edinburgh.

UNICEF UK & The Data Lab are working closely together to tackle societal challenges faced by children in Scotland. As part of this, we are organising a one-day workshop focusing on obesity research in childhood which aims to promote networking amongst academic researchers in this area, as well as achieving a shared understanding for the current directions in, and pitfalls of obesity research.

Topics of interest

We hope to cover the following areas of interest at the workshop: contributing factors / explanatory models for childhood obesity; measuring or estimating the prevalence of obesity in this age group; current gaps in knowledge and challenges in this area of research; a critical evaluation of the extant literature.

How to attend

If you would like to participate in this workshop, please submit a talk abstract (350 words maximum) about your research relative to childhood obesity. On Friday, 01 June 2018 we will notify you to let you know whether your talk has been selected as part of a series of 20-minute presentations (including questions), followed by a round-table discussion.

Please submit your talk abstract, full name, university affiliation and academic role to before close of play Friday, 25 May 2018. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
