Following close consultation with partners and having examined the latest official guidance, The Data Lab has taken the extremely difficult decision to cancel remaining events as part of DataFest20.
The health and wellbeing of everyone involved in DataFest20; our communities, partners and staff, is of the utmost importance to us. Having carried out a thorough risk assessment, remaining core events will be cancelled including Data Summit, Data Talent Scotland, Data Tech, two STEM events, and our executive dinner.
We are happy for fringe events to continue but strongly recommend that they consider the evolving situation. Due to these being small events it is up to the organiser to decide based on the current guidance from NHS and Government sources
As we are already halfway through our planned calendar of events, we do not anticipate a rescheduling of DataFest as a whole and will instead start looking ahead to 2021.
We share the disappointment of everyone involved in DataFest20, but we have a clear and overriding duty to ensure the health of staff and delegates is safeguarded, some of whom are travelling from overseas, or students with final and important examinations coming up.
We will be issuing full refunds to all ticketholders.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your support and understanding.
With multiple events and so many external stakeholders, we are expecting a large volume of messages over the next few days, so we may take some time to respond. We are a small organisation, but please be assured we will remain entirely focused on answering all your queries.
