Innovating in a crisis: How our response to COVID-19 will shape our future

An innovation-led recovery will be key to re-designing a hopeful future for our cities, communities and people.

Chaired by Susan Aitken, Leader of Glasgow City Council and featuring European City experts from Bologna and Aarhus, explore the inspiring innovation happening across Europe in response to COVID-19 and the lasting impact on society

During a time of crisis, the need for innovation has never been greater.

We’ll explore how cities are implementing innovative solutions, harnessing new technologies and embracing new working cultures in order to tackle COVID-19 and mitigate its human and economic impact.

We’ll explore how innovations could have a long-lasting impact, helping us to repair, rebuild and re-design a hopeful post-lockdown future for our cities, communities and people.

SPEAKERS:

Stefania Paolazzi – Project and community manager, Fondazione Innovazione Urbana, Bologna

Since 2017, Stefania has been a project and community manager at the Foundation for Urban innovation, in Bologna. In particular, she works on public policies and community engagement strategies within the Civic imagination office of the Foundation. She has a background in cohesion policies studies and she holds a postgraduate master in Smart Communities Design and Management. Prior to joining the Foundation, she worked for national and international local authorities networks both in Italy and Brussels. Since 2019 she is vice-president of RENA, a non-profit association of volunteer activists whose goal is to connect and boost communities of innovators across Italy and foster public debate on active citizenship and the promotion of good governance.

Stefania will discuss the ‘Re-inventing the city – Coronavirus emergency observatory’. The aim of the project is to combine analysis, experimentation and community engagement to imagine new policies and practices for the future of Bologna.
