Girl Geek Scotland Roadshow
March 14 @ 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Girl Geek Scotland are taking to the road!
We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring a little bit of our Girl Geek experience to those of you based in the Inverness area, as part of The DataFest Fringe.
We’re a volunteer based group who run events & workshops to support women in tech – whether you already work there, you are studying, or you just aspire to and want to grow your network, all are welcome.
Our attendees vary greatly, we have developers, data scientists, UX designers, testers, those on the creative side, those on the backend of things, and those who don’t even have a tech role.
Come along, chat to others in your community, meet our volunteers and leadership team, and make some new contacts.
WHAT WILL WE COVER?
For this event, we’re going to bring together a small number of the workshops we ran last year – they’re about NETWORKING, about CV’s and about INTERVIEW SKILLS. We’ll hear from experts, with hints and tips on how to develop in those areas.
Come along if you want to learn more about those areas, share your thoughts, and hear from others doing the same. We will hear from our expert speakers, then split into small faciliated breakout groups to give you opportunity to share your own experiences and ideas, and start actively working on your next steps.
What should you bring?
Just yourself, your enthusiasm and an openness to both listen & talk about your challenges with as a woman in tech.
What does it cost?
The event is free for attendees – with the help of our partners we will cover the venue and refreshment costs.
How long will it last?
Doors open at 13:30, talks will start at 14:00 and we’ll be finished by 17:00. Don’t worry if you need to leave early, or arrive a little late, you are still more than welcome to attend.
Who should come?
Our event is aimed at those in the early to mid career stage, but we know there will always be advice that can apply to anyone from new graduates to those in later stages of their career.
Whilst our events are aimed at those who identify as women and non-binary, we welcome all who want to help build a better community by listening, understanding and supporting each other.
Gentlemen, you are most welcome if you have been invited by a woman attending the event, or if you don’t know anyone going, please get in touch with the organisers before you book your ticket.
Code of Conduct
All our events are governed by our Code Of Conduct. To discuss any issues or concerns relating to the code of conduct or the behavior of anyone at a Girl Geek Scotland event please get in touch with a member of the leadership team, or any of our volunteers at the event.
