Big Data & Health Economy Focus Group – Social & Economic Value
October 21 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Big Data & Health Economy Research Project
SCDI has launched a new research project, which will explore how Scotland can better utilise health & social care data to improve the nation’s health and wealth, with a call to action for SCDI members to get involved.
The Big Data & Health Economy research project has begun to identify the actions which government, the NHS, industry and other stakeholders must take to ensure that Scotland does not miss the opportunity presented by the Fourth Industrial Revolution to drive increased social and economic prosperity.
You can read more here.
Now we want to hear your perspectives and insights.
There will be three Focus Groups on key themes identified by the project partners. Each is an opportunity to gather your views and evidence. SCDI members from all sectors and all geographies are invited to participate.
Social & Economic Value
This Focus Group will examine this theme:
- Social & Economic Value – Scotland needs to recognise and reduce the negative socio-economic impact of not optimising the utilisation of data to improve health & social care and improve patient outcomes. Sub-optimal health & social care results in higher costs for patients, employers and taxpayers through loss of household income, poorer quality of life, higher levels of sickness absence and lack of prevention. Improving the utilisation of data in Scotland could enhance treatment and care, reduce costs for the NHS, create jobs and attract investment.
What challenges and opportunities exist in these areas? How can we build on our strengths and overcome the barriers to success? What are the solutions?
Join us at this Focus Group to share your views and shape our work.
