AI for the social sector – a workshop on how to get started
March 10 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Do you think AI could be useful to your organisation? This session, run by charity DataKind UK in partnership with SCVO, aims to get you thinking about whether AI is appropriate and useful for your organisation, i.e. to predict users’ needs or better understand their outcomes.
We will look at an example of a recent DataKind UK project: The Welcome Centre, a small charity based in Yorkshire, now use AI to improve their services. This project was a finalist for ‘best use of data to achieve social impact’ at the European Data Science Awards 2019.
We will also present an introduction to the key concepts in AI, illustrated with other case studies of AI in the social sector.
This will be followed by a workshop, where you can ask questions and present your ideas to pro-bono data scientists. This is designed to get you thinking about the next steps for your organisation. Get ready to don your thinking cap!
This session is for those working in charities and the public sector. No previous knowledge of AI or data science is required, and no laptops required.
