Training Manager
Location: Edinburgh Head Office (hybrid working)
Contract: Open-ended contract, full-time 35 hours per week
Salary Grade: UE07 (£41,064 – £48,822 per annum)

The Data Lab is seeking a training manager to deliver Data and AI leadership and professional development training within The Data Lab Academy Programme.
The successful candidate(s) will facilitate learning for organisational leaders, professionals, and postgraduate students, ensuring they acquire foundational knowledge and strategies to build data and AI skills for successful and responsible technology adoption. Working closely with the Head of Professional Learning and Education Programmes, this role is pivotal in executing The Data Lab’s strategic vision for leadership in data-driven innovation.
Main responsibilities include programme delivery and curriculum development support; delivering engaging Data and AI leadership training sessions to diverse audiences; and assisting in the development, refinement, and adaptation of training materials in collaboration with the Head of Professional Learning and Education Programmes and subject matter experts.
The position will be based in The Data Lab’s Edinburgh hub (University of Edinburgh) and will be employed by the University of Edinburgh. The post-holder will be responsible for the successful delivery of professional development training as part of our skills programme delivered as The Data Lab Academy. Due to the level of external stakeholder engagement in this role, travel will be required as the post holder delivers to and collaborates with Scottish industry, public sector and academia.
Business Development Executive – Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire
Location: Aberdeen Hub and Edinburgh Head Office (hybrid working)
Contract: Fixed-term (18-month) contract, full-time 35 hours per week
Salary Grade: UE08 (£50,253 – £61,759 per annum)

The Data Lab is seeking a business development executive aligned with the North East of Scotland’s strategic ambition to lead a just energy transition and diversify its economy through innovation-led growth in Digital Tech and Green Energy. The role would suit an established, energetic team player with broad industry experience and a passion for working collaboratively to deliver positive economic and social benefits to Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, and, by extension, Scotland as a whole.
The job holder will be based at our Aberdeen Hub and will hold a key position within the Business Development Team. Working closely with stakeholders across academia, industry and the third sector, the successful candidate will play an important part in supporting a cohesive ecosystem that delivers tangible economic and social benefits for the region.
The activities of the role will leverage, support and enhance the effectiveness of our existing Business Development footprint and outreach. In particular, this role will be tasked with giving practical effect to the North East Scotland Investment Zone (NESIZ) Digital Technology ambition by driving engagement with The Data Lab’s support to build leadership capability, accelerate adoption of data and AI across companies operating in the region, and to strengthen connections between emerging industry-ready data and AI talent from the region’s academic institutions and industry.
